Set me as a seal on your heart, as a seal on your arm.

Ivy & Mathias' first met at Marywood University in 2020. The two were freshmen in college, attending a retreat. At the end of the retreat, each person in their small group was asked to write a note to the other members. Mathias wrote an thoughtful, & sincere note to Ivy. He mentioned that he had heard so many great things about her & after meeting her he knows these things are true. He concluded it by saying he looked forward to the future with her (this same note is in their flat lay photos!). At the time, Ivy just thought he was being especially kind. He intended to ask her on a date following the retreat. His plans changed when the entire school went virtual for covid, & they spent the next year doing school virtually.

At the beginning of their junior year, the two were back on campus at Marywood. Mathias did not waste anymore time. He asked Ivy on a date Labor Day weekend. In her own words, "it was the best date I had ever been on." One of her bridesmaids, her roommate at the time, shared that Ivy came back from that date with a bowl of popcorn in her arms, & a huge smile on her face! Since that first date, the two have continued to watch movies together, & their love for one another has continued to grow! Their relationship has strengthened both of their Catholic faith as they have prayed together, & drawn closer to the Lord.

After college, the two found themselves in a long-distance relationship between Lancaster & Bucks County. During this time, they planned Sunday dates which included Mass, & brunch to follow. The two would find a church to meet at about half way for each of them. Saint Helena Catholic Church in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania quickly became one of their favorites, especially with the beautiful altar piece! Ivy studied art history in both undergraduate & grad school, while Mathias studied theology. With both of their passions, & love of their Catholic faith, Saint Helena felt like the perfect church for their wedding feast!

The wedding day was filled with so much JOY, sacred moments, & a sense of peace. The ladies spent the morning getting ready at Normandy Farms. With hair & makeup underway, Ivy was surrounded by women who have walked with her throughout her entire life. Her wedding details were intentional, & beautiful. Mathias' mother made their wedding bands (Yes! You read that right). While her aunt made all of the flower arrangements for the day. Ivy's jewelry included pieces from her late grandmother - the beautiful pearl necklace & bracelet. One of the most impressive pieces of her bridal attire was a thrifted wedding dress, and lace jacket. The dress was originally many sizes too big for Ivy, but her talented seamstress worked wonders to make it the perfect fit!

Before the Nuptial Mass, Ivy shared an emotional first look with her dad & brother. It left her dad crying, & her brother pumping his fist! The tears continued as the bride was walked down the aisle by her dad. It was so evident that their loved ones were incredibly moved to witness these two becoming one! The church was filled with music from a church choir Ivy grew up singing with at her home parish. A sweet detail, & family tradition was Ivy's grandmother reading the entire chapter of Corinthians 13. This was the fourth wedding her grandmother read this at!

The celebration continued in the Empress Room at Saint Helena Catholic Church. Guests just had to walk down the stairs to be greeted by a beautiful reception hall glowing with candlelight. From the first dance to the cake cutting, every detail of this reception was beautiful!

It was such an honor & joy to document this love story! Many congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Hummer!!
